According to various reports, Willian has rejected the opportunity to re-unite with Jose Mourinho in a proposed £60m deal to remain at Chelsea and sign a new four-year deal.
If this is confirmed, it's massive statement of intent from the player and massive for our club because we simply cannot afford to lose our player of the season.
I have to admit, I was worried recently after comments were made by Willian when he was asked of Jose Mourinho and talked up how good he was. I guess that's the same as with any player who has played for the special one. However, it seems that we didn't have to worry about anything as it looks like an approach was made and REJECTED by the Brazilian.
I say this is massive for us because we aren't in Europe at all next season and for foreign players that can sometimes turn out to be the be all and end all but it's clear that he has already met with incoming boss Antonio Conte before last season finished and he has made it clear that he is very much part of his plans. In fact, it's understood that Conte instructed the Chelsea board specifically to ignore any interest in Willian and that he was to remain at Chelsea next season.
What do you think of the new deal for Willian and the fact that he has rejected Jose and Manchester United?
