Eden Hazard has spoken out recently over his poor season, the fans reactions and of his aims between now and the end of the season. In what has been a testing time for all of us, some sections of the Chelsea support had turned on three of our key players in our title winning season last year with Hazard being one of them. The player himself admits that he didn't realise why they were giving the reaction they were.
Many of us have tried to work out exactly what has gone wrong this year and I honestly believe that none of us will be able to put our fingers on what is exactly was the main cause. To go from Premier League Champions to giving the worst title defence is embarrassing. Then again, we did the same when we won the Champions League with being knocked out at the group stages as defending champions. However, this feels much, much worse.
So to the Hazard interview. He said:
"I thought the fans were booing because they didn't want me to be replaced," he said.
Supporters pay for their tickets and they want to be entertained. If they are not happy they are entitled to boo. But people mustn't forget what I have done for Chelsea.
We are having a tougher time than normal but we will get over it. I never doubt my abilities.
A lot of nonsense gets talked about my future but I have four years left on my contract.
I've long told myself that one day I would have a season like the one I'm going through.
Chelsea have not have a good season and neither have I. We are working hard to improve."
Hazard Factfile:
- Signed for Chelsea for £32m on 4th June 2012.
- 2012-2013 62 appearances in all competitions scoring 13 goals
- 2013-2014 49 appearances in all competitions scoring 17 goals
- 2014-2015 52 appearances in all competitions scoring 19 goals
- 2015-2016 39 appearances in all competitions scoring 4 goals **to date**
Hazard appeared back to somewhere near his best after a return from injury last week against Bournemouth. He doubled his goal scoring tally for the whole season in that single game and looked like a different player to that we have had to sit and watch all season. Whether that's because he is looking forward to the Euro's this summer is up for debate but the signs are good heading into the Tottenham game tomorrow night - Catch all the live scores on hityah.com by the way!
The problem that Eden Hazard and everyone else at the club needs to understand is that the Chelsea fans expect a level of commitment, a level of desire and a willingness to leave everything on the pitch at the final whistle. We had that last season and won the League. We have had nothing like that just a season afterwards and that is unacceptable. He is right, we have a right to vent our frustrations because we pay the money to do so.
As for the fact that he thought that we didn't want him to be replaced? At certain points in the past season, he couldn't be more wrong!
