According to reports this morning, Antonio Conte's proposed move to Chelsea has hit a stumbling block over back room staff and now AC Milan have entered the running for his services.
Antonio Conte has been linked with the vacant managerial post at Chelsea for months now with it looking like a deal would be agreed between the two parties sooner rather than later after Conte confirmed he would be stepping down from his post as Italy Manager to head back to club management next season.
However, it's believed that Chelsea have stated that whoever comes in would need to work with three of our current back room staff in Assistant Manager Steve Holland, Goalkeeping Coach Christophe Lollichon and Fitness Coach Chris Jones which is causing a problem as the Italian wants to bring FIVE of his own people including a trusted Goalkeeping Coach with him.
Looking from the outside in and if you have never managed in a foreign country before, it would seem natural to me to work with your own people, to learn the language and the new surroundings together. You would bring them all here because you trust them, you have complete faith in them and most importantly of all, they would deliver what is required instantly because they know exactly how you work and what to expect.
To come in and work with three people you wouldn't know takes time to adjust as they need to get to know you, how you work and what is expected and you would need to do the same. I just wonder if we should cave in to his demands and let him bring his own people?
The club needs a fresh start next season and in my view throughout it's current structure. Some people should be looking over their shoulders right now based on the failures of our season.
Sometimes you need to go backwards to move forwards and if we lose out on Conte because of back room staffing levels then that's ridiculous!
