According to reports, Chelsea have identified Leicester midfielder N'Golo Kante as one of our first summer signings under incoming boss Antonio Conte. After an outstanding season, he is being compared to Claude Makelele.
The report featured in The Mirror states:
"Chelsea will launch a stunning bid to sign Leicester midfielder N'Golo Kante this summer.
The fallen Premier League champions are massive fans of the 24-year-old midfielder and are determined to make him one of Antonio Conte’s first signings once the current Italy boss becomes their manager.
Claudio Ranieri’s title-chasing Foxes are already trying to persuade Kante to sign a lucrative new long-term deal.
But Chelsea’s interest means they face a fight to hold on to their prize asset who was called into the France squad on Thursday for this month's friendlies against Holland and Russia.
The Blues will spend big in their summer revamp as they bid to return to the top of the Premier League, and it is understood Kante was identified as a target even before a deal was agreed for Conte to become Jose Mourinho’s permanent replacement.
The club’s current interim boss, Guus Hiddink, has been deeply impressed with the player, who is widely regarded as being comparable to former Chelsea and France anchorman Claude Makelele.."
He an obvious talent plucked out of nowhere by Ranieri and just look at the season he has had. As for being compared to Claude Makelele, I am not quite so sure as yet but without question he could develop his game to be as good as the man with a position on the pitch named after him.
The problem Chelsea will have will be to convince the player to come here and give up on Champions League football next season and you would imagine that Leicester would demand a significantly higher figure than what they paid for him.
I really like him as a player and he would easily be voted into the Premier League team of the season if not up for the major award. What do you think of him and our reported interest?
