For weeks Chelsea fans sat and wondered what was going to happen. Under Jose Mourinho, our form had nose-dived and all of us expected Roman to react. According to reports, the "Special One" could have been sacked FIVE WEEKS before he actually was!
We were all surprised to see Roman Abramovich approach Jose Mourinho for a second time to bring him back to Stamford Bridge because let's face it once he had sacked him and paid up the rest of his contract we all thought that was it. I still believe that it was the mistake of appointing Rafa Benitez and the Chelsea fans reaction to that appointment that more than likely forced Roman's hand to bring Jose back.
However, according to reports that appeared this week, Roman Abramovich had made a second approach to bring back Carlo Ancelotti to Chelsea around five weeks before he decision was made to sack Jose Mourinho for the second time. This was rejected by the Italian as he was not interested in a short term deal and has subsequently agreed to take over at Bayern Munich in the summer instead.
It's almost laughable really when you think about it though isn't it. It's almost admitting that he shouldn't have sacked them in the first place. Imagine how that phone call went.
"Hi Carlo, how are you and how are the kids?
I know we sacked you at Goodison Park before you and the players boarded the team coach home, knowing that would be a really difficult situation to deal with when we could have waited and invited you to Stamford Bridge in a more private environment, but putting that to one side we are in the shit again and wondered if you could do us a favour and come back and take over?
By the way, we aren't sure yet whether or not the deal we will offer you is a six-month deal as Interim Manager or if it would be a long term appointment so if you could let us know that would be great!
P.s. If you could let Michael Emenalo know who you would be interested in signing in the window but please be warned, he will end up signing someone else last minute instead!
Ciao!"
We know that Guus Hiddink is now in charge as the Interim Manager until the end of the season but beyond that, who knows what will happen in the summer. Literally your guess is as good as mine and we would have better chances of using a Ladbrokes promo code for 2016 that to try and guess who will be Roman's next appointment. All sorts of names are being linked with the club and the speculation continues.
As for Carlo Ancelotti and rejecting the chance to return to Chelsea for a second time? I don't blame him really, do you?
