According to press reports, Manchester City are keen to sign Eden Hazard if he decides to leave Chelsea this summer and believe that the influence of Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne could play a role in sealing a possible deal.
I personally think it's a total waste of time as far as City are concerned because we all know that if given the chance, he would jump at the opportunity to play for his "idol" Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. With added speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo could leave the Bernabeu this summer, you can bet your house on the Spanish giants making a move for our Belgian star.
In saying that, would Manchester City have any chance of signing Eden Hazard though? Normally, I would have said that Chelsea never do business with a club they see as potential top four rivals but that wouldn't come into play this summer for two reasons. Firstly, we sold Petr Cech to Arsenal and secondly, we are not going to finish inside the top four so that makes a huge difference - especially with Hazard on a reported £200,000 per week.
Yes I agree the influence of his Belgian team mates could play a part in all this and you would imagine they would both be in his ear throughout the European Championship this summer.
They have the money, they could potentially have a massive name as their new manager with Pep Guardiola being more than tempted to take on the City project to establish themselves in Europe and that could play a part and let's not forget that they have plenty of money and would more than likely be willing to pay a huge fee and wages to get the deal done.
I personally believe that given a choice of playing for Real Madrid or Manchester City? We all know what the answer will be.
