"I am very proud to be at Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world"

Think of the Chelsea players who have made some sort of impact in the year 2015 and Kurt Zouma would be one of them, especially this season. The young Frenchman is now part and parcel of our first team on a regular basis.

Zouma came to the club and looked like a real talent. OK, at first he looked quite raw and I am being honest when I tell you then when he had the ball at his feet I used to wish he would just get rid of it as he looked quite nervous. You think to how he is now and it's clear he has made vast improvements to his game so much so that Gary Cahill has a real job on his hands to get back into the team with Zouma being favoured next to John Terry.

You hear TV Pundits state that he is only in the side because of his pace as he will have to cover the likes of Branislav Ivanovic and Terry who are not the quickest but I see Zouma as much more than that. He has a presence about him, he is strong, great in the air and as we have seen in recent weeks his timing is getting better and better.

Zouma was featured this week in the official Chelsea website speaking of 2015 and of the upcoming year. He said:

"I am very proud to be at Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

I’m very happy and feel I have improved a lot. In 2015 I had a lot of chances to play, played in some big games and won two titles, so I am happy with the year on a personal level.

The highlight I think was the London derby at home against Arsenal this season, when I scored my first league goal for the club and one of the best in my career so far for sure.

I celebrated the goal in a big way because we weren’t good in the table but we were desperate to win the game and I was very, very proud.

It’s a big year for me personally, there are the Euros in France and of course I want to be there in the squad so I have to keep working hard with Chelsea, improving myself in training and playing games.

The tournament is at home in France, we want to win and be a very strong team, just like we do with Chelsea. There are many more matches to win in 2016 and the new year has started well. Let’s keep it up.’

What do you people think of Kurt Zouma, especially this season? The fans have really taken to him and he has responded. I personally believe that he could be as good and as influential as Marcel Desailly for club and country. It's obvious that the club will already be preparing for next season in the hope that we can get our act together (as we look like doing so with two wins and two draws in the last four games) for the remainder of this season finishing as high up the table as possible.
