Thierry Hazard has spoken about his son's future after numerous reports have claimed he has told friends that he is looking to leave. He has re-affirmed his son's commitment to the cause and stated he is fully focused on Chelsea.
We have all read the various reports about Eden Hazard in recent days but we have to remember two things that are vitally important before we are to judge. Firstly, Chelsea have had a nightmare first half of the season and as we are the defending champions of the Premier League, the press and media are loving every moment. Every chance they get they look to dig the knife in to cause more problems because that's just the English way. We build them up to knock them straight back down again!
Secondly, most of the reports we are reading on a daily basis are from this so-called "Chelsea source" they everyone mentions. By indicating that the report or rumour is from someone within the framework of the club they hope to give it credibility and some people out there will take it as almost gospel that it's true.
I had posted the report that appeared the other day stating that Hazard had told close friends that he will leave Chelsea and you can read more about that here. However, his Dad has had to speak out on behalf of his son because the speculation has moved into overdrive with Hazard being linked to plenty of big name clubs which has a detrimental effect on Hazard and the club.
When asked of the reports, Thierry Hazard said:
"Eden is at Chelsea and thinks only of Chelsea. Even with Chelsea, he has ambitions yet. Win a title might be hard, but the top three is still possible."
Forthright and to the point but will do little to stop the speculation between now and the end of the season.
The problem is the player himself isn't doing himself any favours recently and this has caused all sorts of comment being made on Social Media from Chelsea fans and football fans in general. This has added to the speculation about his future with the Bookies getting involved. For example, it's featured in the list of January's Ladbrokes promotions!
His form hasn't been anywhere near what it was last season which is disappointing considering that I personally feel that he has made progress and improvement in each season he has been with us. After last season, he really had a chance to kick on and take his game to the next level but for one reason or another that hasn't happened.
Against Leicester and last week against Crystal Palace, Hazard picked up knocks/injuries and almost substituted himself. People have misunderstood his reaction to wanting to come off as if he has no desire to carry on and is no longer interested which isn't the case especially as it was obvious that he had a muscle strain.
The best thing for all of us to do right now with Eden Hazard is to focus on getting through the transfer window with nothing happening. For Eden to get fit and to come back in the side to hopefully concentrate on playing to get back to somewhere near his best. His Father has said that he is focused on Chelsea so the fans want to see it.
The rumour and speculation will not stop. We just have to get used to it.
