Radamel Falcao has been one big disappointment and that's something I honestly never thought I would say. Having struggled with injuries and not featuring for Chelsea since October, reports have surfaced that Chelsea are preparing for the immediate future without him. The same report also states that the player could leave Chelsea before the end of the transfer window and head back to Monaco with a view to regaining fitness and playing first team football again.
After such a poor season with Manchester United last term, I was certain that Falcao would come here full of enthusiasm with a view to putting his career back on track and restoring his reputation. It's never really ever happened here and that is such a shame.
I had called for Falcao to be given more of a chance and given a regular start with a run of games because that's what strikers need to settle down, get match fit and to get back into what you would hope to be on the goal trail again. Just as it was in Manchester, it's been pretty much stop start in West London.
We can only ever speculate why it hasn't happened playing under two of the most respected managerial figures in the game (Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho) because we are not privy to what goes on at the training ground. However, based on the lack of game time and overall involvement, it's safe to say that he simply hasn't done enough!
Radamel Falcao was one of the most feared strikers in the game back in the day and I sincerely hope that he does get back to best or somewhere near that. It's just a shame that it never happened here - at least he has been paid well for his two-year stint in London eh!?
What a waste of time he turned out to be!
