As the dust settles at Cobham after Jose Mourinho's departure and rumours of a brawl in training yesterday, Roman Abramovich took the decision to personally attend this mornings session. It's a sign that things have just got serious around the place!
I personally hope that he has also taken time to speak to the players face to face and explained what it means to be playing for this club. These are ridiculously paid people who in my eyes are to blame for what has happened. If anything, they should be reminded of the fact that they have a contract to perform for the club and most of them have breached those deals because they simply have not been anywhere near good enough!
Plenty of people have their say on things and rightly so but one comment that was made to me yesterday was "What if Roman Abramovich decides to sell up and leave?" Surely this is a sign that he is as much hands on now as he has ever been and once again, has acted in the best interests of our club.
People say plenty about Roman but for me he lives and breathes Chelsea. People are touting a potential hostile atmosphere at the Bridge this weekend and if that is the case it would only be towards the players not the Owner.
Roman has always acted in our best interests and has never really let us down has he! I say really because for me personally, the only blog on his copybook would be the appointment of Rafa Benitez who I despise to this day!
Every time a decision has been taken such as yesterday, he has ordered and received the right response as we have achieved what has been required each time around. I am sure that this time, Roman still believes as many of us should, that the top four is NOT beyond us sitting only fourteen points behind at this stage of the season.
The aim for Guus Hiddink this time around will be top four and a trophy which is more than achievable. I guess that Roman Abramovich is there today to re-iterate the message from upstairs that their performances have not been acceptable and to buck their ideas up!
Let's see if they start against Sunderland!
