It's widely expected that Thibaut Courtois will be named in the Chelsea first team for tonight's Premier League game against Bournemouth. Do you think he should?
The problem here for Asmir Begovic is the word "perception". People that haven't watched our games look at Chelsea's position in the Premier League table, look at our results overall and would think that Courtois needs to come back in as quickly as possible!
For those of us that have either been to the games or watched them this season, we are the opinion that if it wasn't for Begovic, some of those results would have been much, much worse!
If he does lose his place in the team today than it is hard on Begovic but I guess he came into the club knowing that Petr Cech had to settle for being backup to the young Belgian so should have expected the same.
Jose Mourinho spoke of both Goalkeepers in his pre match press conference yesterday and gave an insight to where he sees both of them in stature. He described Courtois as "The best Goalkeeper in the world" and of Begovic "A very good one!".
Looking at the situation from the opposite side as we like to be objective on here, Courtois should be playing as soon as he is fit and able because Chelsea need their strongest side playing week in, week out.
Let's also not forget, Chelsea have an all-important game against Porto on Wednesday night in the Champions League and today's game would be an ideal opportunity for Courtois to get some game time ahead of that one.
I expect Courtois to come straight back into the side. What do you think of the whole situation and if he does miss out, would that be tough on Begovic?
