I love Jose Mourinho and what he has done for our football club as much as the next person but I really now fear for his future. You have to ask yourself why the club haven't acted as expected throughout the course of this bad run? Is it that they truly have faith in Jose and his long term project or is it because there is no-one out there willing to come in as the "Caretaker" at the club?
It's one thing to have received a vote of confidence from the board earlier in the season but now, after defeats to Bournemouth and Leicester (no disrespect), a side from the Championship and a side that battled against relegation bravely last season, Chelsea are now in crisis. Blue Mark on here has posted that enough is enough and I wonder how many Chelsea supporters are beginning to feel the same?
We have players digging each other out, we have the manager digging them out on TV after the game and Diego Costa making gestures to the defenders on the pitch as if to state they are all asleep! We have turned into an absolute shambles and it won't be long before the majority begin to turn in the stands if this continues and that is one thing that Roman Abramovich wants to avoid!
I really believe the appointment of Rafa Benitez and the immediate reaction in the Stadium shocked Abramovich and he realised that the Supporters are the life blood of a club like ours. You can have all the money in the world but you still need people to pay good money to come through those gates week in, week out and I believe this is part of the reason that he hasn't pulled the plug on Mourinho yet and is prepared to give him time.
It's common knowledge that two of the best managers in Europe would become available this summer in Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone. Interest in their services would be high and Chelsea would have a job on to try and lure one of them to South West London if Jose was replaced at the end of the season.
If Roman decided to pull the plug sooner rather than later then who does he turn to as a short term solution? Carlo Ancelotti? Guus Hiddink? There are reports that the latter is willing to come in on a short term basis once again to steady the sinking Chelsea ship but as for Ancelotti? I cannot see it happening with his most likely destination being to take over from Pep Guardiola if he decides to leave Bayern Munich.
I cling onto the hope that something clicks, something happens and we finally see something like the Champions we were last season and Jose Mourinho remains at the helm to see it through. However, we cannot deny that our ninth defeat of the season on Monday night is not just down to the players or the officials or anyone else we can blame for that matter.
Everyone including Jose Mourinho MUST take responsibility for our season so far. It's a culmination of everything that has put us exactly where we are!
I just wonder if the lack of options to replace him and that reaction to he Benitez appointment has played a huge part in the reason he will still take training at Cobham this morning.
