Guus Hiddink's first transfer target in January identified!

There will be plenty of speculation regarding a whole host of players being linked with moves in and out of Chelsea in next months transfer window. According to reports, Christian Benteke is Guus Hiddink's primary target.

It's obvious our strikers are lacking goals and are suffering this season as we did two seasons ago. Diego Costa has not been as prolific as he was last term, Radamel Falcao has scored a solitary goal and Loic Remy scores goals but isn't given enough game time for whatever reasons.

I am hoping that these reports have real substance because I am a big fan of Benteke and he could turn out to be the closest that Chelsea could have to Didier Drogba and his influence at it was back in the day!

For whatever reasons, he cannot get a game at Liverpool and a potential loan move is being touted. This is something I cannot understand based on Benteke's performances and goal return since he arrived at Aston Villa.

He has a real presence about him up top and can be utilised the same as Drogba was at this club. He has ability to create something out of nothing, he has an eye for a goal but at the same time, he is able to bring others into play by using his powerful physical frame.

Diego Costa, despite being a handful, isn't really the type of striker who naturally does that. He prefers to run into the channels and play off the shoulder of defenders. Benteke for me would be a perfect fit.

The problem we have is that Liverpool will not want to deal with Chelsea or allow Benteke to leave to join a direct rival. Having just signed back in the summer, they would be reluctant to entertain the idea of him leaving so it could come down to the what the player wants to do here.

It's clear he isn't first choice at Liverpool and let's not forget he is not a Jurgen Klopp signing as he was at the club before he arrived.

I just wonder if Chelsea will be told that if they want him in January, they would need to sign him for at least the same price Liverpool paid for him which was £32.5m.

Benteke for me would be an investment and lets face it, Chelsea's attack was built for years around Didier Drogba. Why can't we do the same with Christian Benteke?
