The bromance between the “special one” and the flamboyant Swede has not gone unnoticed since they found each other in Inter Milan back in 2008. Ever since the Milano days they have, whenever the right opportunity has arisen, spoken fondly of each other and Ibra admitted in an interview earlier this year that his only regret was that they were only able to work one year together.
In his biography I am Zlatan the PSG-striker praise Mourinho numerous times. A selection of his appreciation looks something like: “He would become a guy I was basically willing to die for” and “No matter how happy I was going to Barca, it was sad to leave Mourinho. That guy is special”.
The Chelsea coach hasn’t been slow to respond to his apprentice’s compliments. When Chelsea played PSG in Champions League Mourinho commented on Ibra saying: “I do not hide that I love the guy, there is no need for comments to describe the player. People have certain opinions about him, but he is fantastic.”
The verbalised platonic love flourished into transfer rumours past summer of Zlatan joining Chelsea FC and reuniting with the Portuguese tactician. As we all know by now rumours remained rumours, but is that door still ajar?
With Chelsea starting off the season in the worst possible way and Diego Costa being injury prone (although he is back for now), could it be a short time solution to secure Ibra for half a season come January transfer window?
Even though we have covered some aspects in favour of a reunion, a few things speak against a potential transfer:
• Zlatan is 34 years old;
• His weekly salary exceeds £200k;
• His transfer value of 15 million euro.
Ibrahimovic is eager to attend his big return to hometown Malmö with PSG in Champions League on November 25th, but the future of Sweden’s all time best player is still uncertain. He is entering his last season with PSG and Chelsea could give him a final season in the top flight before he flies off to MLS. Will identical Zlatan and Chelsea rumours arise for the next transfer window?
