Jose Mourinho will be present on the touchline once again after serving a one-match stadium for misconduct, and the Portuguese will be hoping to mark the occasion with a fourth Premier League win of the season.
Although the Canaries sit a point above the Blues in 15th place, we boast an 11-match unbeaten run in all competitions over the visitors, who have failed to win 16 of their last 17 league fixtures on the road.
It's also worth noting the fitness of Eden Hazard is up in the air after the Belgian reportedly battled illness throughout the international break.
Norwich City Team News
Winger Nathan Redmond is expected to return to action for Norwich, while Matt Jarvis will continue his spell on the sidelines.
Wes Hoolahan has been integral to the Canaries' play this season, but he may be rested having featured in both of Ireland's play-off legs against Bosnia and Herzegovina during the international break.
Norwich City Starting XI Prediction
Ruddy | Whittaker, Martin, Bassong, Brady | Redmond, Tettey, Mulumbu, Howson | Hoolahan | Jerome
Previous Meeting
4 May 2014
Chelsea 0-0 Norwich
The Blues' title hopes took a critical blow with a goalless draw against Norwich in their penultimate Premier League fixture of the 2013-14 campaign. Chelsea dominated proceedings for much of the 90 minutes but couldn't find a way past John Ruddy, who made a number of impressive saves to help steal a point for the visitors.
Last Five Meetings
Chelsea 0-0 Norwich City (Premier League, May 2014)
Norwich City 1-3 Chelsea (Premier League, October 2013)
Norwich City 0-1 Chelsea (Premier League, December 2012)
Chelsea 4-1 Norwich City (Premier League, October 2012)
Norwich City 0-0 Chelsea (Premier League, January 2012)
Score Prediction
The international has given Mourinho and his staff, the players and us fans to yet again reflect on what has been a painfully disastrous campaign to date.
The return of Branislav Ivanovic is certainly worth mentioning. We don't need to be reminded how vulnerable the Serb looked prior to injuring his ankle seven matches ago. Even if he's at full-strength, I question whether he's still the go-to man at right-back, especially coming up against the quick attacking threats at the Canaries' disposal.
It was pleasing to see Cesc Fabregas produce a glimpse of his former self while on duty for Spain during the break. I'm sure many of you would agree the Spaniard is the type of player whose upsurge in form and confidence would reverberate through every Blue on the pitch. With that being said, a single match is hardly cause to believe he's back to his best, so let's just hope he can produce some of his magic today and build some consistency.
I think will the panic among the camp would've calmed during the break, and we should have it in us to get a 2-0 win. What are your score predictions?

Fantastic performance even though the defence was jittery at times. There was panic at times while clearing the ball in the box. The good thing is that we finally have a win, something to build on.
ReplyDeleteThis is the frustration with Mourinho. You make progress by changing the players that are not working and then suddenly he drops that progression, and switches back to his starting position.
ReplyDeleteThe problems we have are Ivan, Fabregas and Costa.
As everybody in the world knows, Ivan is not a rightback. The Fabregas/Matic holding role doesn't work. Costa for some reason does not want to play as a striker, attacking the 6 yard box.
And Mourinho does not want to bring in our youth.
