Jose Mourinho has some key decisions to make and his team selection for the Saturday Night Football will be a huge indication of how I believe we move forward. Will Jose recall his Skipper?
Plenty has and is still being made of our season so far. From poor results, poor individual performances, defensive mistakes, the Eva saga and now reports that Jose has lost part of the dressing room, the press would have us believe that everything is falling apart. In my view we are nowhere near that stage BUT, the team he selects will give us an idea of where he is at personally.
There are people with the argument that players should be selected based on current form. If that's the case we would struggle to put a full eleven on the pitch!
However, in a strange way, I can understand dropping someone to the bench to make a point. Has Nemanja Matic performed anywhere near like he did last season? Has Eden Hazard had the same impact as last?
As for the decision to drop John Terry to the bench, I could understand it initially after he was sent off at West Brom; to leave him there for the most part is ridiculous after watching the shambles we have become defensively. Now more than ever we need our Captain back and surely Jose can see that now?
I will never understand why Branislav Ivanovic remains in the starting eleven and surely the second big decision is for the Serbian defender who has had such a poor start to the season to take his place on the bench and to stay there for the time being.
Pedro is another who I have been personally disappointed with after such a bright start. I just feel that he is struggling to have any impact at the moment. Let's be honest, he came out second best to his full back last weekend and should have scored to wrap up three points against Newcastle.
Drastic times call for drastic measures and I am pleading on here for Jose Mourinho to revert to type and start with the following attacking line up with a solid base to build from:
Begovic, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry (C), Rahman, Matic, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Hazard and Falcao.
For me, this is the strongest eleven we have and anything other than that would be disappointing.
I still believe in Jose Mourinho, I still would champion the "Trust in Mourinho" campaign but surely he has made his point with the players and now is the time to grab this League by the scruff of the neck and take Chelsea onwards and upwards.
I would ignore the reports of player fall-out, player unrest and reports that the dressing room is lost. Hopefully tomorrow will start with the manager making a statement with his team selection for the team to do the same on the pitch with a good performance and result.
At the end of the day football is all about opinions and these are mine. I would love to hear as many other in opinions in the comments section below to gauge where you are all at right now with everything going on.
