All eyes will be on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight as we open our Champions League campaign against Maccabi Tel Aviv with non-Chelsea fans waiting for another poor performance and result. Asmir Begovic has backed the manager as "The Best in the World!"
Jose has come in for plenty of criticism of late with some people declaring that if he loses the next two games he could be sacked by Roman Abramovich for the second time. I personally believe this is a nonsense as I stated here - people need to remember what it was like without him and all the dramas we had during that period.
So to the pre-match press conference and to summer signing Asmir Begovic. For his first Champions League press conference ahead of his debut in the competition tonight, he has re-iterated just how good our manager is and backs him 100%.
He said:
"We're behind him. We can remember what this team is and what this team is capable of.
With everything the the group achieved last year, as champions and cup winners, it is important to remember we have some of the best players in the world, and we know how to get results. It's difficult walking into this sometimes.
A good result will steer our season in the right direction and kick our season on. This is the highest level in club football, testing yourself against the best, so I'm very excited and honoured and hoping to help this team get a good result."
Sometimes in football, it's amazing what a win can do for a team, for their confidence and for their belief in each other. I doubt that the players have little or no belief in themselves or as a group collectively but to win tonight will give us a massive lift ahead of Arsenal on Saturday.
Right now I would take any kind of win to lift the players but ideally, I would like to see Chelsea play some exciting, attacking football and thump Maccabi Tel Aviv to make a bold statement in the competition.
After a night of lows for Manchester last evening, I fully expect the Londoners to turn things round for English clubs tonight and I back Jose Mourinho 100%!
Do you?
