Hasselbaink Talks Claudio Ranieri

Former Chelsea legend turned manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is still very popular with fans. He is booked for entertainment and corporate events by the global firm MN2S, a celebrity talent booking agency based in London. He currently manages Burton Albion football club, who are set to take on Leicester City in a pre-season friendly later this week. Even though he is on the opposing side, Hasselbaink has supportedhis former boss Claudio Ranieri as manager of Leicester City. Hasselbaink believes that Ranieri's European football experience will benefit the team: “Claudio has experience from all over the world so why could he not be successful? You always have something to prove in football”. His support for Claudio comes from the four years he previously spent with him at Stamford Bridge between 2000 and 2004. Hasselbaink strongly believes in Claudio’s experience and backs his decision to re-enter the premier league, stating: "He knows the English culture which is something he has got ahead of others who come over”.

Hasselbaink went on to explain: "He is someone who communicates very well with people around him - he is very good at that - and he has that charisma. They like him for it and, with the fans, I think he will be a success”.

Hasselbaink may also be eyeing up fresh talent for his own team after he admitted that he was impressed by NorwichCity goalkeeper Remi Matthews. The young skipper will make his debut in the Brewers’ League One opener in August. Hasselbaink states “I would have no qualms about putting Remi in if we needed to against Scunthorpe”. Jimmy must be doing things right as his team has given an impressive pre-season performance. The Brewers travelled to Ermelo in Holland to complete their pre-season training and, whilst there, beat amateur side AFC Arnhem 10-0.

Despite his pre-season good fortune, Hasselbaink is being tested as the new Burton manager – which was announced on 13^th November last year - and it hasn’t been an easy season for them.

Since that time however, the team has managed to move up a league, from League Two to League One. As a man who “sits11th on the all-time Premier League goalscorers’ list”, Hasselbaink is a man of many accomplishments and looks set to achieve great things with his team in the future. Speaking of his experiences in an interview with The Guardian, he said: “As a player, I had to come from far. I had to graft. I don’t mind grafting but I don’t see this as grafting, I see this as a good opportunity”.

Hasselbaink’s career has seen him play for international clubs like Boavista, Leeds United, Atlético Madrid and Middlesbrough. He has 18 years of previous professional experience as a footballer and played in the 1998 FIFA World Cup for the Netherlands - his national team - scoring 9 goals in his 23 appearances. His competitiveness and drive have given him the opportunity to learn many valuable lessons from these experiences.
