It's been a dreadful couple of weeks for the Chelsea team. Chelsea look a shadow of themselves at the moment but Diego Costa believes that a win will change everything.
It's sounds ridiculous to say it bearing in mind we are the current champions and to think this time 12 months ago, we were playing with confidence and purpose.
I have had my say here on why Chelsea lost the game against Manchester City and have stated on record that it is worrying times for Chelsea.
Diego Costa isn't having any of it and spoke of the game. He said:
“We need to improve right now, we need to do things better, but we need to keep a cool head and communicate better.
The coach did the pre-season just as he needed to, our fitness is fine, we just need to win a game and everything will change.”
The thing is, he is probably right but at the moment we are focusing on the negative because that is all there is to focus on. Chelsea look flat and have no spark about themselves or their game so you struggle to see a win coming at the moment.
Costa looks like a shadow of himself along with plenty of other players which hasn't helped. Think back to how he started the season last year to this and you will see a marked difference.
I understand his comments about keeping a cool head and that's fair enough. However, put in another disappointing performance against Arsenal in a few weeks time and lose the game? Well, we don't want to consider it!
Costa is right, Chelsea need to improve and to do things better. Their defensive shape needs sorting out, the holding midfield role needs to be re-evaluated as with Cesc Fabregas' position.
I sincerely hope that Costa is right and a victory against West Brom on Sunday kick starts our season.
Another poor performance and result would be unthinkable!
