John Terry is preparing himself for another season in the Premier League. Despite all our rivals spending big, he believes the signing of a contract extension by Jose Mourinho IS the biggest deal this summer!
Much has been made of Jose Mourinho's past. How many times since he has come back to Chelsea have we heard pundits talk of the fact that he has never stayed anywhere longer than three seasons before he is up and off on his travels once again!?
This time it's different and if anything, Jose Mourinho had to experience other Countries, other Leagues and other Cultures to discover what he really wanted and that was to come back to Chelsea.
Jose is about to start his third season as Chelsea manager in this second stint and there is talk (yet to be confirmed) that Jose Mourinho is about to be handed a contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2019 which is fantastic news for all of us.
So to JT and the new contract for the manager and he believes that it's the signing of the summer. He said:
‘He has a lot of great records against clubs and other managers. It must play on their minds. When other big teams sign big players you do think: ‘Oh.’ But it must be the same for them when Mourinho signs his contract at the club and extends.
It's great news for the club but terrible news for everybody else because the other managers know that he finds ways to beat teams. He knows people inside out, on and off the pitch. Whether you're a player or manager, he does his groundwork. He knows everything.
He certainly gives you confidence when you do the specific work on the training pitch, the tactics room and in the dressing room before matches. We go into games fully aware of other team's strengths, their weaknesses as well. But also our weaknesses and ways we can be got at if we don't do things the right way. So he prepares us with every situation and making sure we're ready.
It's excellent news for the squad of players because it brings stability to the club. The fans love him because of what he's done. For the whole place stability is key for us, which we have missed over the previous five or six years. I was delighted to have him back and now I am delighted he will stay for a few more years.
It's stable here, it's calm. But the manager still pushes us every single day. You see him on the training pitch in pre-season. He is leading from the front. He demands the very best from us on a daily basis which is why for me he is the best in the world by a long way. He will keep striving, keep pushing players and getting the best out of them individually and collectively.
Even in the training games, he hates losing, he hates conceding goals and that rubs off on the players. It's important you have a manager like that and players who are willing to give everything on a daily basis. From what I have seen in my career, you play as you train.
It's exciting times for the football club and to have the best manager in the world, with some of the best players in the world, and to be winning, it's great. We are all happy. We had a great season last year, but that doesn't stop him from losing games and being unhappy, wanting to improve. But that's what makes him the best, he will push everyone.’
He is by far the best manager in the world and has everything about him. We have seen that he can prepare the team to play in any way to win games. Some people may not like it but football is a results business these days - just ask Arsene Wenger.
His record is outstanding and you know that he will just keep striving to be the best, to get the best out of his players to win even more trophies.
I would love to see Jose Mourinho take a Chelsea side to the Champions League Final and win it here because it's what he deserves. It's the one thing missing.
You look around at our rivals and their managers at the moment and no one can come close to Mourinho. We have to be grateful that he is back here.
One thing is certain, Jose Mourinho doesn't look backwards at the moment. He doesn't look at what he has won as a manager to reflect and take stock of everything, he forgets all that and focuses on being better year after year and that can only be good for Chelsea.
I agree, once this deal is confirmed and Jose Mourinho agrees to an extension until at least 2019, it WILL be the signing of the summer!
What do you people think?
