Chelsea's Goalkeeping target - Clear to sign for Jose Mourinho!

With the departure of Petr Cech recently, it's obvious that Chelsea have been looking for a replacement. Now with all the names that had been banded about, it's also become apparent that the Goalkeeper they sign is of a certain quality.

Asmir Begovic is the player that Jose Mourinho wants and according to reports today, he is now clear to sign him after Begovic's current club Stoke City are about to sign ex-Newcastle Goalkeeper Shay Given. Given will take his place in a battle for the number one spot with Jack Butland paving the way for Begovic to move to West London.

We have read the reports that Begovic will double his money by moving to Stamford Bridge to play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois. I personally say fair play to the bloke being honest. He has obviously been made aware that he will not be a regular starter here (just as Petr Cech last season) but it seems that he is more than happy to accept that role at Chelsea.

Some people will question it and some will accept it but that's football at the end of the day, it's all about opinions.

What I will say is that Begovic is highly rated and thought of and it seems that Chelsea were not the only side to show an interest in his services. The fact that we have got someone of his ability to be the backup for Courtois is excellent news for all concerned (and the money helps of course!)

Expect something to happen in the coming days!
