Jose Mourinho has wasted little time in looking for a replacement for Petr Cech by tabling a first bid for Stoke's Bosnian International Goalkeeper Asmir Begovic of around £6m. It's believed that Stoke are holding out for £2m more!
Being honest, I am surprised at the move as I didn't expect Begovic to be interested having nailed down regular first team football again at Stoke. You would have to question as to why he would want to give that up to come to Chelsea knowing that he would play second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.
The report then states that Chelsea have (reportedly) offered the Stoke Goalkeeper a double your money deal to come to Stamford Bridge! Hard to turn down I guess!
It appears that Stoke have rejected Chelsea's first approach for Begovic and are holding out for £8m. Chelsea will have some competition for his signature now that the first bid has been made public, with other clubs offering the chance of first team football.
Let's see what happens in the coming days. Could he be a Chelsea player by this weekend? What do you think of Begovic?
