Over the past 48 hours, the reports linking Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge have increased and gathered real momentum. Now we read that Chelsea are due to sign him this week for a cut priced £25m!
Spanish TV station "Punto Pelota" is reporting that a deal has been agreed and the player is expected to sign later this week for Chelsea on a permanent transfer and not another loan agreement.
So what is your take on the news? As always, we will not hear an official word from the club until the deal is announced because that's how our club likes to do business, but as I said, this story has really grown legs over the past few days.
Only a couple of days ago it had been reported that Falcao was "desperate" to join Jose Mourinho and Chelsea in West London and was more than willing to take a significant pay cut to do so.
Then, a day or so ago, we were reading reports that talks had started between Chelsea, Monaco and Falcao which was a real turn of events and yet again, a sign of Chelsea wanting to get their transfer business done as quickly as possible!
So it's almost certain that Radamel Falcao will sign for Chelsea in a deal believed to be £25m which is great as far as the money men at the club are concerned. For the supporters, we have to believe that he will put this past year at Manchester United behind him.
It's important to remember that he suffered a serious leg injury in the previous season, before he came to Old Trafford. As a result, this season he has been well below par but you have to admit that his manager never helped him recover and get somewhere back to his best.
Forever in and out of the United side, Falcao had no chance to get a run of games and build his confidence to then find his form. I guess we have to ask ourselves if he would get that here at Chelsea next season?
It's clear that Diego Costa's hamstrings are a problem and until they are sorted out properly, all of us will watch him sprinting for the ball wondering if they will pull again meaning more weeks out of the team.
That of course opens the door for Falcao. I do wonder however, if both are playing well and scoring goals, does the manager chance our approach to accommodate both of them?
For now, let's just wait for official confirmation that a deal has been agreed. We can worry about next season later!
