Chelsea Midfielder wants out!

According to various reports, John Obi Mikel has had enough of a lack of first team football at Chelsea and is seeking a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Being honest, Mikel is one of the players I have expected to leave the club this summer. You only have to look back at his lack of involvement in the first team last season to see that.

For someone to have a nailed on start in the first team week in, week out many years ago to where he finds himself now, it's a marked difference.

Many Chelsea fans criticise Mikel because of his use of the football when it's at his feet. He remains one of the best defensive midfielders without the ball to win it back or stop attacks but it's what he does with it that frustrates many of us.

You could hear the frustration in the stands as he would slow the game down and pass it backwards. Then, when Oriol Romeu turned up and was able to do the dirty work without the ball but, use the ball much better and lift his head up looking to play it forward, many felt that he was a breath of fresh air.

Now, look at Nemanja Matic and what he offers to us. He is immense in every aspect and just look at way the he brings the ball forward and drives into the opposition half!

The game has evolved so much from ten years ago and the amount of technical players in our game has gone through the roof. Many people believe that Mikel has been left behind.

I certainly believe that Mikel could do a job for someone in the Premier League looking for a ball winner and someone who is positionally excellent. Apparently, he could be off the Middle East!
