Chelsea suffered their heaviest defeat of the season last night losing 3-0 to Tony Pulis' West Brom and literally everything that could go wrong in a game did.
Saido Berahino scored a great first goal that you could do nothing about, Cesc Fabregas was sent off, John Terry gave away a stonewall penalty and Thibaut Courtois was beaten at his near post. All we needed to happen to make it the worst possible night was for Diego Costa to break down with his hamstrings again!
It's become clear that over the last few games since we won the League, we appear to be off on our holidays already as our performances simply haven't been good enough but can you blame us?
However, in saying that, you have to give immense credit to Tony Pulis once again and to his side as they well deserved the victory. They had a game plan and it worked and delivered another impressive victory and another three points against a side up in the top four. If anything, it makes you question what Pulis could achieve managing a top four side with the right financial backing!
As I said there were plenty of things that went wrong in the game but also in addition it's important to note that Filipe Luis looked way off his best, Juan Cuadrado doesn't cut it for me and Diego Costa, although more or less demanding to play according to Mourinho, shouldn't have been risked really as we didn't need to. Although, after six games out, it was good to see Costa roughing up defenders once again.
It was good to see Ruben Loftus-Cheek get another start and apart from Eden Hazard, he was our best player on the pitch. He looks calm and composed and only gave the ball away once in the game. If anything, I would have like to have seen him press forward with the ball at his feet and look to create something in the final third. It was almost like he was playing with the brakes on and had instructions to hold his position. We all know what he is capable of so let him go ahead and do it!
Eden Hazard again was outstanding but as with last week, struggled to find someone up top to link up with and create havoc in their box. As the game moved into it's final stages, Hazard looked knackered and although he had run out of ideas as West Brom sat deep and Chelsea played numerous passes in front of their back four.
The closest we got to scoring was a shot from Loic Remy that hit the post early in the second half but that's about it for us and for Remy's performance. I thought he needed to do alot more than just run around the pitch at half pace but again, we seem to be off on our holidays already.
Let's hope for a reaction on Sunday against Sunderland. I wonder if we will see any of the Chelsea players that are due to be involved on a beach this week?
