One thing that stood out for me after we won the Premier League a couple of weeks ago was the messages on social media to Andre Schurrle congratulating him and thanking him for his part in our triumph.
What has been nice is that Jose Mourinho has been in touch with the player he sold for £24m back in January to invite him back to collect it on the last day of the season!
Schurrle spoke of contact with Mourinho and of the reason why he left the club and said:
'Jose Mourinho sent me a text to say that I’d get a medal and he asked me to come to the last game.
I’m really happy for the boys. They played a very good second half of the season so of course for me it’s good to get a medal but the boys did the work.
There came a little bit of a period for me where my body didn’t feel very good, I was not clear in my head and I didn’t have as many good moments for Chelsea.
I wanted to come back to the Bundesliga, I wanted to feel a little bit more in the team and to get a bit more playing time.
I love Chelsea still, I’m not frustrated, it was a great experience.'
I believe that Andre Schurrle was underrated and if anything, we have missed his goals in the second half of our season.
At this moment in time, most of you will look at Juan Cuadrado signing as his replacement and think that we should of kept hold of the German but I am sure Cuadrado's time will come.
It will be nice to see Schurrle back at the Bridge and I am sure he will receive a fantastic reception from the Chelsea fans!
