With Chelsea set to lift the Barclays Premier League trophy at Stamford Bridge this Sunday, a selection of the club’s fans have been recounting their personal highlights from a triumphant 2014/15 season.
Club partners Gazprom searched across the capital to find the most ardent Chelsea fans to appear in their three minute short film and asked them one simple question – what’s made you Proud To Be Blue this season?
Former Chelsea ace Pat Nevin leads the way as the team’s story is told from the fans’ perspective. Nevin describes the club’s one nil win against Manchester United as a definitive moment in the team’s season, calling the result “huge”.
Among the supporters to appear in the short film is performer, poet and lifelong Blues fan Jonathan Kydd, who summed up the season as follows:
“If ever there was a season that summed up Proud To Be Blue this was it. We were brilliant, resilient and, of course, razor sharp. The energy in the Bridge this season has been phenomenal.”
Meanwhile Richard Hannam, a father of two and the owner of a beauty salon on the Fulham Road, beamed as he spoke of Chelsea’s league victory.
He said: “I’m Proud To Be Blue because I was born in Battersea and I’ve been a lifelong Chelsea fan. To witness us lift the Cup – I’m just the proudest Chelsea fan.”
Gazprom Marketing and Trading’s Dmitry Amelin said: “It’s been a fantastic campaign for Chelsea and the fans have been there every step of the way, showing their support. There have been many standout moments this season, so it’s great to hear the fans talk about the ones which mean the most to them.”
