According to various reports, Juventus have agreed to sell Paul Pogba this summer and the same reports have indicated that Chelsea are in pole position to sign him ahead of the likes of Barcelona and PSG!
The figures that have been touted are astronomical = £58m transfer fee and it's believed that PSG have offered him a contract of around £210,000 per week which is ridiculous! It gets better though, apparently he is holding out for MORE money and people believe that Chelsea will offer him more based on their financial power this summer!
I am not 100% certain that this has any real substance being honest. I like Pogba as a player and let's also not forget that he is only 22-years-old. He would be a massive investment for whoever signs him as he gets older, he will improve into the best years of his career. Should that be at Chelsea? Is the hefty transfer fee and salary something we should avoid if the reports are true or would you see the outlay as a long term investment for the reasons I have just stated?
There is a whole host of people being linked with moves to club as with any season but now, after our title win, you can imagine the same reports will go through the roof!
I guess it comes down to what the manager wants. I think it's obvious that we need someone to come in and play alongside Nemanja Matic in that deeper role but it has to be someone with the same or at least similar qualities that he has.
Pogba fits into that mould perfectly but then again so does someone like Koke' of Atletico Madrid for example. The Spaniard is a smaller player with fantastic work rate in addition to being good with the ball at his feet. As for Pogba, well he has a similar frame to Matic, very leggy, also good in both defensive and attacking areas.
I still think that we cannot forget about Oriol Romeu who is someone we already have on our books. he has already shown what he can do here and was the first player to really give Mikel a kick up the arse to show you how to pass the ball forwards. Should he be considered this summer?
What do you people think about the link to Pogba and all that money involved? Is he someone you would like to see at Chelsea next season?
