Chelsea Football Club have always been proud of their players and how
they act – both on and off the field. The club ensure that they help the local
community and attempt to provide the opportunity for ill children to meet their heroes by building
close relationships with local and national charities. We take a look at a few
of Chelsea’s players – both past and present – and discuss how they have shown
that they are role models throughout their careers both on and off the pitch.
Ashley Cole and Geremi visited
youngsters as part of the Positive Futures programme.
Back
in 2007, these two Chelsea players made special appearances
at a function to provide inspiration to a group of young adults. The
programme intended to use football to engage those who are socially
disadvantaged and bring them together, showing that they can find happiness and
excitement in sport. Cole and Geremi spent an afternoon session down at
Battersea with the group, and took time out of their busy lifestyles to enjoy a
game of football and pass on some friendly help and advice.
Dreams were made at the club’s
Community Day last year.
Chelsea
opened their training ground to a number of young fans who were able to meet
and interact with their heroes. The likes of Eden Hazard and John Terry
were there to spend time with supporters, and the guests were able to enjoy a dream
day at the Cobham training ground. The players also had a really fun day and
were able to pass on some advice and support to their fans. The children were
all ecstatic to meet their favourite players and this is just one of the many
events that the club put on over the course of the year.
Fabregas was spotted in the casino,
but remains one of the game’s top role models.
Chelsea’s
star midfielder was pictured in the casino earlier in the year, along with
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Gerrard Pique. We can hardly blame them for
enjoying a little free time in casinos; with the huge variety of options out there nowadays from holiday
resorts to online bingo, it's no wonder they want to let off a little steam.
Although the Spaniard was spotted enjoying the casino’s games, this certainly
doesn’t make him a bad person and he remains one of the sport’s most
influential characters. Many have stated that Fabregas is one of the best role
models, and his conduct in day-to-day life is fantastic. He is never in the
press for negative reasons and remains one of the most down to earth players on
the pitch. A lot of younger players – including Arsenal’s Jack
Wilshere – have previously revealed that they look up to the 27-year-old.
