MATIC: Sign him up! - New contract extension being reported.

Following news of a new contract for Eden Hazard, John Terry and possibly Branislav Ivanovic, there are reports that Chelsea have moved to tie down Nemanja Matic to an extension to his current deal until the summer of 2020. Sign him up as quickly as possible!!

Matic is been a revelation at the club from the moment he came back and has quickly established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

Having been banned for his reaction to Ashley Barnes' tackle on him a couple of weeks ago and then injured during our League Cup Final celebrations, Matic is expected to be back for Wednesday's crunch game against PSG at Stamford Bridge.

The modern game has evolved so much over the last ten years that the role he plays as almost become one of the most important now. Just look at all successful sides and they will have at least one player who sits in front of the back four and protects the defence.

The added bonus we have with Matic is that his use of the ball is excellent and he is more than happy to bring the ball forward and take on his opponents. Without the ball, he is literally everywhere. His stature and size provide a real presence on the pitch and very rarely do you see him lose out on a challenge.

If Chelsea ARE to be successful and win the biggest prizes in the game then Nemanja Matic MUST be part of our plans for the future. The fact that Chelsea want to extend his contract and tie him down at the club for longer is a sign that they acknowledge the impact he has had and will have in the future.
