CHELSEA 2-2 PSG - NO DESIRE, NO FIGHT, NO HEART OR PASSION!
I don't want to read match reports. I don't want to listen to the views of TV Pundits or read other Chelsea Blogs, I just want to...

I don't want to read match reports. I don't want to listen to the views of TV Pundits or read other Chelsea Blogs, I just want to have my say and let my immediate reactions tell you the story of tonight.
That right there, was one of the worst home performances in Europe I have ever seen from us and we got exactly what we deserved from the game - NOTHING!
No passion, no desire, no pace in our game and apart from Eden Hazard, Chelsea were toothless. What the fuck has happened to us tonight??
Even when Ibrahimovic was sent off and PSG were down to ten men, Chelsea just sat back and allowed Verratti and Motta to boss and dominate the midfield!!!
PSG wanted it more, they were hungry and played their football with desire. Chelsea were the total opposite. It was almost as if we thought they would not score against us and we would just play the game out to go through and that is far from good enough.
Once I saw Diego Costa have a real pop at his team mates to up their game, to show some spirit and it never happened. I cannot emphasise enough how awful we were tonight.
It was typical that David Luiz pops up with a Drogba esque bullet header into the roof of the net after getting stick all game from Costa and the Chelsea fans. What better way to answer his critics. He has had a lot to say this week but he put in a performance that none of the Chelsea players could match.
Even their second goal was a total joke. Literally seconds before, Silva met a cross into the box unmarked and forced Courtois into a save. Seconds later with the likes of Costa, Cahill, Drogba, Ivanovic and Zouma in the box to defend and win the header, Silva again rises unchallenged to head PSG into the next round! Shocking defending for BOTH PSG goals but pretty much summed up our night!
Cesc Fabregas called for Chelsea to kill when they have to kill in his pre match press conference and Chelsea were miles away from doing so. We score to take hold of the game and cannot defend a set piece to take the game to extra time.
We score again in extra time and you think to yourselves "OK, relax, organise and see the game out" and we cannot do that as we get caught for a second time from a set piece!
The most disappointing thing here is the way we played against ten men. We stood off of PSG and allowed them to bring the ball out of defence. We allowed them to move the ball into midfield under no pressure whatsoever. It was scandalous and a joke!
How we could let PSG's Verratti and Motta dominate is beyond me. They both were allowed to pick their passes all game.
What we also have to realise is that if Edinson Cavani could actually finish, we would have been dead and buried over the two games and this would not have even moved into extra time.
PSG were the better side in BOTH games and deserved to go through.
Chelsea's performance was BULLSHIT!
Take a deep breath CD; it wont help the way you feel but it may prevent a heart attack.
ReplyDeleteI'm as gutted as you but I'm not surprised. I said when the drawer took place that we'd got the worst possible opponent having won our group. PSG are a good side, better than us, and having watched the first leg, I always thought we were likely to go out last night. Having said that, I certainly didn't think we'd go out in the manner that we did, I think you've summarised that sufficiently well that no further comment is needed.
My real concern now is the Premiership as our rivals are all playing better than us at present. Citeh aren't consistent but are showing good form in patches, Arsenal and Liverpool are at the top of their game (we have to play both). If things don't change and quick, I can see our season dwindling away just like last term with us fighting Manure for
fourth spot.
It's true that there are no easy games in the Premiership but it's also true that, with the talent we have, we should make some of those games easy. Do you remember the first three months of the season when we took teams apart on our way to the top where it looked like we belonged? Where has that team gone? Since before Christmas our form has fluctuated between poor to average. Every game has been a real struggle, not just the unexpected draws and defeats but the painful single goal victories.
I don't know what the answer is (no surprise there) but my real concern is I'm not sure that Mourinho does either. I think Mourinho is the best in the world but he needs to rectify matters before it's too late. Another ten games like the last ten and we'll be watching the title being handed to one of three teams, none of which are us.

Back to your best I see Norman,,,couldl,nt agree more,,,let,s see how we perform on Sunday,,I live in hope....
DeleteA good blog and very true. This situation has been coming for some time now and I am not surprised the collapse happened. Why? I do not know and I agree that it does not appear that JM has an answer either otherwise he would have taken action. How dare they walk, even saunter around the pitch. We pay good money to support them and they are paid astronomical sums to play. I read that JM does not believe in bonus payments for a win to motivate them, perhaps he should deduct money from the players when they mess up so big time? I doubt the league will be ours this season unless JM can find a cure?
DeleteAgree,,,,JM,and also the player,s I feel, have to take responsability for this shambolic/display,,,the away game,,despite all the critic,s,,I feel we got it right,,not a good/game,,but we got the result we wanted,,,,on the performance last night,,everything was wrong,,,with our performance,,,or lack of performance,I should say,,,we have to congratulate PSG,in the way they played, for the most part with 10/men,,,we can all argue, about this and that,,but long story short,,,we messed this one up big time,,,I hope that both JM,and the players, can put this in the locker, and now kick on and grab the Premership Title by the B - - LS,,just to show us fan,s that they have what it take,s,,,,very disappointed about last night,,,it was,nt just losing,,( I can handle that ,no problem ),,it was the way we lost,,,,not a happy bunny today,,but life goes on,,the sun is out,,and on we go...
ReplyDeleteThe answer is width - last night we played like Arsenal - trying to go through their tightly packed defence. In the last few games, it looks like Ivan has been told not to run down the wing anymore. Willian is not the one to break teams down, and constantly runs into the centre, leaving Costa and Hazard isolated.
ReplyDeleteWhy did we want Curado - for width. He should have started or replaced Oscar.
We need to play Zouma alongside Matic and release Fabregas forward. He's clearly tired and should not be be in the defensive hole for the restr of the season, but he needs to be in a position where he can be more creative.
One comment on Mourinho last night that I couldn't understand. At 60 mins, we were loosing the plot (even G Neville was saying that the Chelsea players were not moving, and were certaintly not pressing). Costa went over to Mourinho and told him what was going on. But no change, not until 90 mins. Surely Drogba should have come on and we should have reverted to a 3 5 2, pressing higher up the pitch. It was at that point the Barca 94 min goal came into my mind. Have we not learnt anything ?
If Terry, Cahill and Ramires are starting European games next year, Chelsea isn't going to win the 2016 CL either. So much was laid at Torres' door last season and yes, he was a huge disappointment, but for over 3 years, I pointed out that was a whole lot wrong at Chelsea beside Torres. Too bad for some, he was around to take the blame for last night, eh? And unlike a current Chelsea striker, Torres at least managed goals in the CL. Just goes to show his Barcelona goal wasn't quite so meaningless after all.
ReplyDeleteI would be a great CB too if all my teammates are forced to track back and defend all the time. Terry is good but the fact is he's like golden handcuffs--Chelsea will never play free flowing adventurous football if he continues to anchor the team. Chelsea, figuratively and literally cannot move forward as long as Terry is starting every game. Cahill is an average defender at best. Ramires, what more can be said. Brazil has over 150 million people and Chelsea managed to sign/play the one technically inept Brazilian footballer alive.
And I don't even have time to cover Mourinho. Is that five full European campaigns for Chelsea and zero trophies to show for it? After how many hundreds of millions of pounds? He didn't go down fighting last night. More like crawled under a rock and whimpered.
cant agree more with other blogs the prem is still in our hands but only if we change now any team who watched Wednesdays game must be rubbing there hands together any one can read Chelsea,s game plan its the same every week should have kept mata cesc seems worn out big mistake just so fed up with defending no matter who we play one last thing why drogba and not remey drog is now 37 and to slow for prem
ReplyDeleteAgree with you about DD,,we saw the best of him 1st time/around,,,love the guy,,BUT,why did we buy Remy,,and on the same subject,,F,Luis,,who rarely get,s a game,,Why???,,our midfield offers no change of style or impact,,to much of the same,,,yes they can run and track/back,,all day/long,,,but what else,,Oscar I feel, has it in him to become a great player,,is it JM,,holding him back,??Fabregas,,where,s he gone,,,I,m just thankful for our early season form,,that has put us in the position we are in,,,if not for that,,I wonder where we would be,,,I still think JM,,is the right man for CFC,,and I trust him to sort it out,,,like us,,,I felt he looked frustrated on Wed,,and could,nt really explain why we played like we did,,,,,
DeleteI agree with all previous blogs, something deep is wrong with the team. Even if the mistakes that lead to the 2 PSG goals were corrected the team is not playing as a top team should play. It hurts me to admit that watching Arsenal or Liverpool or even Citeh is more pleasure that watching Chelsea of late. Perhaps JM is not the motivating force we have all believed? Perhaps our often clumsy defence is not at European level. Perhaps we take the complicated route to goal too often? We certainly have stopped the free scoring we managed earlier in the season. Who is going to correct this? Who is able to correct this? Any solutions??
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see this team in action against Southampton : Combines Mourinho's desire for defensive strength, but also width.
ReplyDeleteCourtois
Azi Cahill Terry Luiz
Zouma Matic
Cuadrado Fabregas Hazard
Costa
