Who Holds The Key to Chelsea’s Premier League Success?

Supposedly the best team in England,(if you care to take a look at the top of the Premier League table) Chelsea have had one of their best seasons in football so far. Managed by the Special One, Jose Mourinho, they have displayed an unmatched performance in the BPL this year.

They have held the top spot in the Barclays Premier League log since the start of the 2014/15 season and look set to stay there ashe Blues are 5 points ahead of the defending champions.

Generally, the team has had a spectacular performance in their BPL matches, losing only two, and drawn five of their 23 games. The team has a lot of great players, but who actually holds the key to Chelsea’s BPL success?

1. Cesc Fabregas.

Cesc was not much of a regular player in Barcelona, so he was put on the transfer list and apparently, Arsenal refused to re-sign him. However, Mourinho took that chance and signed him for Chelsea. The outcome? Well, he is the king of assists in the current BPL season.

Since he joined Chelsea, Fabulous Fabregras has displayed a remarkable performance. He is technically the engine of the Blues, since he is the one who will create more chances. Currently, he has 15 assists, and the highest amount of passes completed.

Fabregas is a stable player, who has amazing ball control. He is also capable of scoring, and has scored in two matches, which helped to earn Chelsea a valuable 6 points across those two matches.


2. Nemanja Matic

When Matic was at Chelsea in 2009/10, he wasn’t much of a good midfielder. But at Benfica, he lured Chelsea into re-signing him for £21million, and it was worth the bargain price. He has shown his skills as he plays alongside Fabregas in the 4-2-3-1 formation. 

Several sports analysts have compared Matic to the famous holding mid, Makelele. The 26year old Serbia International has played in all the BPL games for Chelsea, and he has been consistent in all. 

He is versatile, as he will defend deeply, and he can also be a good attacker. Matic will rotate around the football pitch, to ensure that the ball is in the right feet. 

Standing at 6ft, 4 inches tall, Matic is impassable, and whenever an attacker tries to pass him, its either he will take the ball, or a foul is committed. 

He is taller than most of the premier league attackers, making him a giant in midfield. He leads the BPL with more than 60 tackles. 

3. Diego Costa

Costa is called the Guv’nor at the Stamford bridge by the Chelsea fans. And this name might be suitable for him, since he governs the goals in an excellent way. 

He signed for Chelsea from Atletico Madrid this season, and he has proven to be the main piece that missed in the Chelsea’s attacking force. He broke the record of being the first Chelsea player to score seven goals in his first four matches. Currently, he leads the score sheet with 17 goals in only 19 games. 

He has been a great link with Fabregas, having more than 12 goals assisted by him, only his behaviour, which can sometimes be erratic, could make him a little bit of a liability, but weighing up the pros and cons, Mourinho has obviously a great deal of time for Costa. 

Clearly, Chelsea are not a one-man team, and even though other players are outstanding, these three are the ones that have pushed Chelsea to the top spot. With these three on the pitch, The Blues might just lift their 5th English Premier League title and betting sites across Australia tend to agree with this.
