OPINION: Cahill or Zouma to partner John Terry tonight?

Who should partner John Terry in defence tonight against Paris St Germain? Should it be Gary Cahill - a long serving partner next to John Terry with a wealth of Champions League experience or should it be the young and raw talent of Kurt Zouma?

It's an interesting debate because for most of the season it would be a straight answer and Gary Cahill would get the nod from Mourinho.

Now, with Zouma coming into the side in some really important games, playing well and not putting a foot wrong, you would be hard pushed to select anyone else above him!

People talk of Jose Mourinho and his game management; a point raised by Gary Neville on numerous times during his Sky commentaries. Neville always pays the boss a compliment stating that when it comes to the big games, he knows exactly how to set his team up to not get beat. I believe that's the case this evening.

As tempting as it is to go with Zouma (despite everything I have said here previously) I believe Mourinho will favour experience in such a big, big game and that's why I think that Cahill will get the nod (in addition to Petr Cech over Courtois).

OK, as we know Cahill has had a couple of dodgy moments which had affected his confidence. It happens in football to everyone but it's how you deal with it and move on which is a sign of a great professional.

Cahill's anticipation of danger in and around the box is fantastic. If you doubt it then think back to how many times you have seen him make a last ditch tackle time and time again.

Let's also not forget that we are up against experienced attackers and a world class striker up top who knows all the tricks of the trade to get the better of his defensive opponent. Cahill and JT on Ivanovic with their "old-school" approach to defending is a better option tonight than Zouma and JT.
