Samir Nasri has spoken of his thoughts on Chelsea this season as the title race begins to heat up as we move at pace towards the business end of the season. Not that most of us care, he has stated that he isn't impressed at all.
He said of Chelsea this season:
“I’m a big fan of Mourinho, but I am not impressed with his team, not at all. When I have seen some of their games, I don’t think they are that fantastic – they are just strong, and have a good striker up front.
For me they are not special at all, and I think they are going to make some mistakes. We have played them twice, one time with 10 men, and we were better than them. Then we played them at Stamford Bridge, and we were better than them.
We just have to perform, to win our games, and see what’s going to happen. This title will be like this until the end of the season. No one will win the league 10 games before the end of the season.”
I'd take his comments with a pinch of salt and see where we are both in the league at the end of the season.
You see I like to try and look at the bigger picture despite being a biased, blue nosed Chelsea fan. While I will admit that City were better than us a couple of weeks ago, You can see that Chelsea's game management over the course of the season so far has been better including the City result. It's all well and good being better than your opponent but you still need to beat them!
We've won more games, lost less than City, scored more goals and conceded less. At times we are not at our best but we still manage to grind out results such as Everton this week.
Everyone realises these days that the Premier League is now a results business and the financial rewards available dictate that. The new TV deal if anything, will heighten the focus on results and the days of the long term manager (for the most part) will be a distant memory.
Jose Mourinho is better than Manuel Pellegrini and has the record to show for it. He knows how to manage the big games and manage a team through a season. You only have to look at the fact that Chelsea have sold some big players for mega money and brought in players to make the team even strong for LESS money making a profit, to see just how impressive he is.
City have it all to do being seven points behind. Let's see just how good we are compared to them between now and the end of the season!
