With reports and continued speculation over the future of Andre Schurrle at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho today confirmed that although he likes him and wants him to stay, if a phenomenal offer was to come in, he would consider selling the German World Cup winner.
As we have seen virtually every day, there has been plenty of speculation of a player who obviously isn't getting enough first team football of late. When asked of Schurrle in his pre match press conference this afternoon, ahead of Bradford in the FA Cup tomorrow, Mourinho said:
"The principle is we want him to stay.
The question is to have a phenomenal offer and a player to be super keen to accept a new challenge.
We don't want to sell our players.
We are fair with the rules of financial fair play.
Sometimes we have needs. The reality is that normally nothing should happen in the next two weeks and we should go to February with the same squad."It's clear that Schurrle has not played anywhere near as much as he would have liked coming into the season after success back at the World Cup.
We keep reading reports that there is interest in taking him back to Germany and the lure of regular first team football is something he would be willing to consider. The question is how much Chelsea would consider to be a phenomenal offer?
For now, the boss has revealed that Schurrle is due to start against Bradford tomorrow. Could it be his last game for Chelsea?
We will see.
