Tonight Chelsea take on Derby in the
Capital One Cup and Mourinho’s men will be hoping to score some early goals
after just scraping past Shrewsbury in the last match. Derby on the other hand
are hoping for victory again after their incredible 5-2 win over Fulham.
Looking at the most recent betting odds from
bookmakers it is
Chelsea who are odds-on to win with the most popular bets coming in at 1/2 for
a Chelsea win, 11/2 for a Derby win and 3/1 for a draw. The Blues have provided
unlimited guarantees this season in the Premier League and with their odds to
win it may be
an occasion for a value bet even though Steve
McClaren’s side have only lost once at home all season.
The Blues are well within
reach of Premiership silver but with Mourinho aiming for four trophies this
season; there is no room for error. While Cesc Fabregas is back following his
suspension he is expected to start, with Petr Cech expected to stay in goal as Thilbaut Courtois is
still recovering from a minor injury.
Looking at some statistics, Chelsea
have won 14 and lost none of their last 16 league Cup games against lower
ranked sides since 1999 whereas the Rams have lost 7 and won none of their last
eight clashes with Chelsea in all competitions.
Nevertheless, with no
injury worries to report McClaren has room to move around the squad which is
good news as they will be without defender Ryan Shotton after he was sent off
during Saturday’s victory against Middlesbrough.
That said, the blues
have been eliminated in 3 of their last 4 quarter final ties in the Cup but,
nevertheless, it looks like the win will go to Chelsea.
Best Odds
for Chelsea Victory: 1/2 Stan James
