Life is good for Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea side at the moment, sitting top of the Premier League and unbeaten. Despite that, the next transfer target has been identified according to reports.
In order to maintain our position and to strengthen even further, it's important to take the chance to do that in January. Some people may feel that Chelsea do not need to do so as we are looking for stronger than anyone else, but in saying that, injuries and suspensions WILL play a part in our season and it's important to have better resources than we currently have.
It seems that one area Mourinho has identified for improvement is the wide areas with Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah finding themselves out of the team and suffering a lack of form. As we know, the boss criticised both recently and as a result, their Chelsea future has come under scrutiny.
According to various reports Marco Reus is the man Mourinho has asked to club to bring to London in January with Andre Schurrle moving the other way to Dortmund.
My initial reaction is that I would find this hard to believe because I couldn't see the German side wanting to do business and willing to let him leave during the course of the current season. However, the fact that Andre Schurrle could become part of the deal would ease their concerns and hopefully seal a deal being agreed.
Reus has been consistently linked with a big money move to one of Europe's top clubs over recent seasons after his impressive form in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Despite being strongly linked to a move to Anfield, it would be interesting to see if these reports of Chelsea's interest do in fact have substance, if he would rather come here instead?
The lure of London, the lure of Mourinho and of playing with the current crop of players we have here would surely seem better than up North!
Let's wait and see what happens in January but for now, I want to hear from as many Chelsea fans on Reus as possible. What do you think of him and the possible move to Chelsea with Schurrle going the other way?
