Looking ahead to Anfield tomorrow lunchtime, I cannot help but look at how both clubs invested their money in the summer to see how Chelsea have taken a step forward and Liverpool a step backwards.
Jose Mourinho knew the areas he needed to strengthen based on last season and went out and got exactly the players he wanted. You can see just how much of a step forward the team has taken in the early stages of the season so far.
As for Liverpool? You will NEVER replace Luis Suarez in my opinion and especially his ability to score goals. In addition, the absence of Daniel Sturridge is a huge blow for Brendan Rogers as he is left with Mario Balotelli or Ricky Lambert to choose from.
I just look from the outside in here at the signings Brendan Rogers has made and think that he has almost acted in the same way that Tottenham had with their mega money for Gareth Bale.
At various times this season, we have seen a whole host of the new Liverpool signings start games have been heavily involved but look like panic buys, stop gaps, almost brought in to fill a void in the squad.
If anything, their team has taken a massive step backwards and find themselves way off of the pace in the Premier League. So much so, there is going to be an apparent demonstration at the way Rogers has handled things with a banner being flown over Anfield tomorrow!
It's funny really considering just how much everyone thought that Liverpool were going to be champions. The TV coverage, the bias in the media was staggering and Chelsea and Crystal Palace blew their hopes and dreams quite literally out of the water!
Liverpool fans needs to realise that last season WAS their best chance to win the Premier League and I doubt they will ever come that close again in the coming seasons.
I fully expect Jose Mourinho's well oiled Chelsea machine to turn up at Anfield and to not "park the bus" but to outplay this Liverpool side and beat them by two goals to show the gulf in class and just how well Chelsea invested in the team compared to Liverpool last summer.
What do you people think?
