Didier Drogba, speaking to Chelsea TV, has given the biggest hint that this season will be his last in football and is just as determined to win trophies and to make history again.
Drogba's return to Stamford Bridge raised plenty of eyebrows in the summer with many people questioning Jose Mourinho's decision to bring him back.
However, as we have seen in recent weeks, the big man is just as hungry for goals and success as he has ever been and so far, things are going well.
So to his quotes featured on Chelsea TV and the hint that this season will be his last. He said:
"This year, the key for me is to enjoy my football and to be with my team-mates and to win trophies. There is one more year to go so let’s do it, let’s win more trophies, let’s make history again.
This relationship between me and the fans goes both ways, the way they show their support and the way they love me. If there is some way I love them even more because of all we achieved together, all the history.
I have always said my first eight years here were the best years of my career. I know they enjoyed it because I did. I’m far from all the players who made history here but I’m also next to them."
There is a saying in football and in life stating "You should never go back" and that was banded about when the initial rumours broke of his return to Chelsea.
Having signed a one year deal, I think it's pretty clear that he wouldn't want to continue but to go out at the top. Only then, people will realise just how much of a Legend he is at this football club.
If it means that he finishes in the game with even more silverware at Chelsea at the end of the season, what better way to go out?
For now though, there is a long season ahead and Drogba has an important part to play if we are to win trophies.
