It's match day two in the Champions League as Chelsea travel to Lisbon to take on the undefeated Sporting side. After a disappointing draw at home to Schalke, we must pick up points in this one. My question is "Who should start for Jose Mourinho?"
I believe the fact that we only drew home with Schalke will have a bearing on Jose Mourinho's team selection. I imagine that he would have been prepared to make at least three, four or even five changes to our starting eleven but the focus should be our strongest eleven or at least those that are available.
We are all aware by now that Diego Costa is not able to play a game every couple of days so the biggest question of all is who starts in his absence? Should we go with Didier Drogba to give us that important out ball from defence/midfield? Or, should we utilise the pace of Loic Remy?
Looking at the starting eleven from this past weekend, I can see maybe two changes but no more than that. We are lucky enough to have this game tomorrow, giving us four days before we take on Arsenal at the Bridge on Sunday and I firmly believe that will be on Jose's mind when it comes to his team selection.
As I said earlier, either Drogba or Remy will come in for Diego Costa, I also expect Andre Schurrle to come in for Willian or Oscar with whoever remains in the side out of those two, being deployed in the number ten role.
Sporting drew 1-1 with Porto last Friday night so would have had an extra day to prepare for this one. Out of their six league games in total, they have won two and drawn four including an additional draw against Benfica and a big win against Gil Vicente.
This is going to be a tough game tomorrow and Chelsea must pick up at least a point from this one. I fully expect, with the way we have been playing, to beat Sporting by a couple of goals but as we all know in the Champions League, you never ever know!
So for me, in order for us to get the victory tomorrow evening, I would go with the following team:
Courtois, Ivanovic, Cahill, JT (c), Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Hazard, Willian, Schurrle and Remy.
What do you people think?
