Chelsea have made an impressive, unbeaten start to the Premier League but for one player, Mohamad Salah, he has hardly featured at all. Reports have surfaced that Tottenham are preparing a £13m bid to take him to North London in January.
The situation with Salah is a little strange you have to say. When he came to Chelsea, Jose Mourinho openly admitted that it would take him a little time to get used to life in the Premier League, but Salah would be one for this season. As I said, he has hardly featured!
Now whether that is because of the emergence of Andre Schurrle and the goals, assists and his overall contribution, Salah remains a squad player which is a little harsh on someone who proved to be a key player for Basel.
As with any squad in the Premier League, there will be players who are remain on the peripheral of things while others remain key players. It seems that for the moment anyway, Salah cannot force his way into the starting eleven.
So what of the link to Tottenham? I personally would believe that given the option, Salah would jump at the chance of regular first team football and if these reports have substance, maybe the side from North London could give him that.
The one thing Salah has is pace. He is lightening quick and with an eye for a goal, he could really set the Premier League alight given a regular run of games. Just look at how impressive he had been for Basel against Chelsea especially.
I cannot help but think that for the time being anyway, he is in the same situation at the club as Demba Ba was and is only seen as someone who can provide cover if the likes of Hazard, Willian and Schurrle are injured or suspended.
Do you think he would succeed in the Premier League if he was given a regular start elsewhere and what do you think of his limited chance at Chelsea so far this season?
Let's wait and see what happens between now and January!
