Chelsea open their Champions League campaign this evening against the German side Schalke and as we know in this competition, you MUST start well and win your home games. Can Chelsea deliver the right result?
We have made a great start in the Premier League by winning our first four games and hopefully we can take that form into the game this evening. We are in good form, we are confident and scoring goals so I cannot see why we would not win this one.
Schalke have their injury problems but, as we are only too aware, they will come to the Bridge tonight looking to frustrate us and make life difficult.
This is a different Chelsea this season though and I can for see Schalke really struggling to cope with our movement. Without question, we need the likes of Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Eden Hazard up and at it from the off.
I am looking at the game tonight, wondering whether or not Jose Mourinho will make changes in this one with Manchester City in mind on Sunday? Could we see the likes of Filipe Luis come in for Cesar Azpilicueta? Could we see Willian come in for Andre Schurrle and Ramires for Oscar with a formation switch to 4-3-3? Only time will tell.
I think all of us would like us to start as strong as possible, get the game won and then bring players off. I am very, very confident and can see Chelsea winning this one by three goals.
Chelsea faced Schalke twice last season and won both games. Tonight hopefully, Europe will see the new Chelsea and if we had our way, we would lay down a similar marker to that of Real Madrid last night.
I firmly believe the Premier League is our priority this season with the Champions League a close second. We have made a great start to the League, now tonight we turn our focus onto the biggest club competition in the world.
Come on Chelsea, play your game and lay down that marker for the long campaign ahead!
