Today's loan news comes as something fresh with a new player to keep an eye on with the loan watch rather than the regular U21's season as John Swift moves to Championsip club Rotherham on a season long loan.
This loan move for Swift comes on the back of a superb season for the U21's where following some tutoring by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard Swift went on a prolific campaign managing to score an impressive 15 goals during the season.
For those who do not know John Swift he is a silky midfielder with excellent control of the ball and able to pull of the odd trick or two, think a more all action Josh McEachran. Swift is primarily a box to box midfielder who can also operate as a number 10 and even in the holding role. Due to the number of top young midfielders we have at the club Swift has also on many occasions including the first team pre season games this supper played in a wide role and whilst he can do that it is not the best use of him talents.
This will be a big challenge for Swift going straight into a Championship loan but if played in his best position and given regular games he will be a huge asset for Rotherham and I have no doubts that there were many clubs trying to sign him up for a loan move.
Another point to highlight is the fact that he has gone for the whole season, to me that would suggest that Chelsea are very confident that he will get the game time he needs there as initially the club would tend to send the players out on no longer than 6 month deals and sometimes shorter to see if they can settle in at the club.
