We all know just how hard it can be to win games in the Premier League and in certain games, there are key moments that can do exactly that. At Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon, Chelsea made theirs count and that turned out to be the difference.
Firstly, I have to apologise to the Leicester City fans for my Tweet pre game yesterday. After Chelsea blew Burnley away last Monday night, I couldn't see anything other than the same thing happening before kick off and stated that Chelsea would win by four goals. At half time the situation could have been very, very different!
As I said in the introduction to this match report, there are key moments in games that decide the fate of the outcome and there were plenty yesterday.
Chelsea's first half performance was not good enough. They were too slow, too laboured and not incisive enough. Chelsea moved the ball quickly in that blistering first half at Burnley and we expected the same yesterday but for one reason or another, it never happened.
To their credit, Leicester came to the Bridge and had a fantastic attitude. They came here to try and keep it tight at the back but had intentions to attack us on the counter when there were in possession and it was working well.
Thibaut Courtois was forced into a routine save from distance in the first half as Leicester had their fair share of possession of the ball. Down the other end, Eden Hazard found Diego Costa in the box and his shot was deflected over the bar. That was about as exciting as it got in that first half.
Key Moment Number One: Mourinho's half time address.
Chelsea came out in the second half as if they had been read the riot act at half time. Although the manager stated that was not the case in his post match interviews, he surely couldn't have been happy with the levels of our performance. Although no personnel changes were made, the manager made a change to the way we we playing and it worked.
Key Moment Number Two: Courtois first save from Nugent.
Chelsea had pressed higher up and pushed higher up in the second half but early on had been caught twice in possession. The first save from Courtois came about as Nemanja Matic lost possession of the ball inside his own half and the visitors found themselves in a three on two situation. The ball came out to Nugent on the left and his deflected shot was saved by Courtois using his feet.
Key Moment Number Three: Courtois from Nugent one on one.
Chelsea took a corner that came to nothing and Schlupp on the edge of his box played a pass in between two Chelsea players and Leicester were away on the counter attack. The ball was played through the middle and Nugent was away, in on goal, one on one with Courtois.
The Belgian waited and waited and as Nugent came towards the edge of the box, Courtois came off his line, and forced Nugent into a shot as he closed down the space. Nugent's effort was not good enough and Courtois deflected his effort wide to make a great save and keep the game at 0-0.
Key Moment Number Four: Costa strikes.
Up to this point and apart from his first half effort, Diego Costa had been fairly quiet up against big Wes Morgan but that was about to change just over the hour mark into the game. Branislav Ivanovic burst down the right hand side and was found by Oscar. Into the box, he cut back inside, beating his defender and played a pass inside to Costa.
The pass deflected off a trailing leg and bounced up high at Costa who reacted instantly controlling the pace of the ball with his Chest. The defender was beaten as the Costa had killed the ball and the big man followed up by placing a shot low under the Goalkeeper and into the net to make it 1-0 from close range.
Key Moment Number Five: Hazard seals it.
Chelsea were well on top now and had forced numerous saves from Schmeichel in goal in the second half. Eden Hazard sealed the three points with a goal that has become very, very familiar.
Cesc Fabregas played the ball out wide to Hazard. He picks the ball up wide left, on the edge of the box and comes inside, cutting inside one or two challenges and smacks a shot hard and low towards the opposite corner of the net. The shot takes a deflection off of Morgan's foot and finds it's way under the Goalkeeper to make it 2-0 Chelsea.
Diego Costa was replaced by Didier Drogba late on to a fantastic reception for the man making his return to Stamford Bridge and it was also very noticeable that the fans sang Costa's name after he had been replaced. That was a nice touch and one that I am sure will be sung many times this season. He may not have had the best game, but that's two in two for our new striker and both poachers goals.
So Chelsea fans, that's six points from six in the Premier League and we sit back and watch developments today and tomorrow. Leicester can take plenty of pride from their performance and if they play like that, will have a real case of having a chance of staying in this league.
My Man of the Match was the impressive OSCAR. How many times did he make a tackle in the game? He won at least five important tackles, many in the first half and had his moments in attack two. He nearly opened the scoring with a shot that hit the post and dove-tailed in the middle of the pitch with Fabregas fantastically well.

The difference at this level is taking your chances and that's was the difference between the two sides.
