According to reports, Chelsea's attempt to sign Atletico Madrid's left back Filipe Luis has hit a brick wall and it's believed that the deal is in danger of falling through.
Despite reports that Luis has a £19m release clause inserted into his contract, the report states that Chelsea are NOT willing to meet that valuation. As a result, both clubs are far from a deal being agreed with Atletico holding out for the full amount.
Having rejected a new contract, Filipe Luis is reported to have pleaded with his club to lower their valuation of him in order for a deal to be done with Chelsea as it's apparent that he has his heart set on a move this summer.
The problem Luis and Chelsea have is that Atletico are not prepared to do business unless that minimum fee release clause is met, just as with the Diego Costa deal announced yesterday and there lies the stumbling block as far as Chelsea are concerned.
I personally feel that £19m is far too much to pay for a left back but you look around and see Luke Shaw sign for Manchester United for £30m and realise that prices will continue to rise. You also look around these days and a world class left back his hard to find.
What do you people think about Filipe Luis and of the £19m that Atletico are holding out for? Is there anyone else you have seen that you personally believe could be viable alternative for Chelsea to consider?
Any deal for Luis seems a long way off and this one could run right through until the end of the transfer window in August!
