According to various reports, Demba Ba is about to turn his back on the Premier League in favour of a move to Turkey and Besiktas. With reports that THREE Premier League sides had made enquiries for Ba, the lure of regular football has convinced him to head there.
It seems that Chelsea have lowered their demands in order to facilitate the move as they look to rebuild their strike force for the coming season with Diego Costa already signed.
Speaking recently, Besiktas Chairman Fikret Orman said:
"The initial price for him was €13m (£10.3m) but we've managed to reduce it. We'll tell the media once the final deal is done."
Plenty has been said of Demba Ba ever since he arrived at Chelsea and he is someone who divides opinion amongst the supporters all over the world.
Ba has proven himself to be a goalscorer in England (when given his chance) and has nothing else to prove to anyone really. The problem he faces at Chelsea is competition for places and it's played havoc with his chances.
For someone who looked like moving to Arsenal right on deadline day last August, Ba's move fell through and once again he found himself as a third choice striker in the managers eyes. In saying that, Ba featured in 29 games last season, scoring eight goals in the process with the most important being the goal that beat PSG at Stamford Bridge, taking us through to the Semi Finals of the Champions League.
The problem Ba faces heading into this season if he stays here is the fact that he will remain third choice no matter what happens. Samuel Eto'o has left the club after his contract expired, Romelu Lukaku is being linked with a move after talking up moving from Chelsea almost everyday leaving Fernando Torres, Ba and new signing Diego Costa as our options (at the moment) for the coming season.
Expect Ba to leave Chelsea in the coming days and I don't blame him to be honest. As I said at the top of the post, Ba had nothing to prove to anyone and I am sure given a regular start, would score you 20 goals a season easily.
It's just a shame that it will never be at Chelsea so if he does move to Besiktas, good luck to him!
