Hello Chelsea fans! This is just a quick post to confirm that I am heading off to sunny Spain for a long weekend starting today and will only be back on Tuesday.
During that time all four of the World Cup Quarter Finals would have taken place and how interesting it will be.
France take on Germany in the first game this afternoon and it really is anyone's call. I still think that Jerome Boateng is the week-link in the German defensive line and if Benzema can find himself one-on-one against him, the French could have some joy in this one.
In saying that, the German's are a well oiled machine and it's been good to see Andre Schurrle make an impact the other evening. I believe the Germans will progress and reach the semi finals.
The game later this evening sees the host nation Brazil take on Colombia who have impressed all of us so far. Can the likes of Willian, Ramires and Oscar inspire Scolari's men to victory or will the team play of the Colombian side expose the frailties in the host nations formation?
This is a close one to call but I think the Brazilians have too much to offer from the bench to change it if the game isn't going their way. Brazil to go through and meet the German's in the Semi Finals.
On Saturday the first game pairs Argentina against Belgium and we finally get to see Eden Hazard in direct competition with Lionel Messi.
Messi's side just about made it through the quarter finals despite a late scare against Switzerland and if anything, that game exposed the problems the Argentinian side have at the back.
It was encouraging to see Kevin De Bruyne in this tournament as I believe he has been their stand out player. Playing in the middle with Hazard and Mertens either side, De Bruyne has taken on the responsibility and has played really, really well.
We have seen glimpses of what Eden Hazard can do but now at the business end of the competition, it's time for Hazard to step up. Romelu Lukaku gave us what we needed to see coming from the bench against the USA and for the first time in Brazil, looked hungry and determined. He took his goal really, really well.
I believe that Belgium will beat Argentina and take their place in the Semi Finals.
The final game of the round pairs Holland against Costa Rica and there is only one winner for me - Holland. They are far stronger, look well organised and with the pace and flair they have up top, will cause anyone problems.
Costa Rica have done really well but I believe their tournament comes to an end here. Holland to go through and face Belgium in the Semi Finals.
Just to confirm my semi final predictions are as follows:
Germany v Brazil
Belgium v Holland.
Have a great weekend people, enjoy the games. I'm off to the beach!
