Hot on the heels of the official confirmation that Sam Hutchinson has left Chelsea there was another departure that has been confirmed but not officially from Chelsea. This afternoon 21 year old winger Milan Lalkovic confirmed on his Twitter feed that he his future this coming season lies away from Chelsea.
This was what Milan had to say to Chelsea, his fans and young Chelsea stars:
"thank u @chelseafc for those amazing years i learned alot and played/trained with some amazing footballers under fantastic managers ive got loads of friends there and i wish them all good luck for the future whateva happens if they play for @chelseafc or make good carrer somwhere else.. and for young players at #cfc i just wana say when u get ur chance take it cause thers no time for mistakes"
That is a pretty clear message from Lalkovic that he will not be a Chelsea player next season. He also goes on to highlight the difficulty that Chelsea academy players have when trying to break into the first team.
Lalkovic has been at Chelsea's academy since 2007 and has shown a lot of promise over his time there. An explosive winger with pace to burn and a decent eye for goal he looked like he would be a promising player for the future at Chelsea but as with many young players coming through he failed to really kick on when the loan move came about.
In 2011 Lalkovic got his first loan move to Doncaster Rovers in which he made a total of 6 appearances without really showing his full ability. Following that a loan abroad was considered and he went to ADO Den Haag for a season which did not work out as he only made a total of 2 appearances. Next was another loan abroad to Portugal this time with Vitoria De Guimaraes again a move that did not yield the necessary game time, this time with a total of 8 appearances.
Finally last season Lalkovic made his mark a club when he moved for the season to Walsall. It was a season where finally he would become part of a team and get the games he needed. Last season he made 34 starts and 8 from the bench scoring 6 goals in the process.
However it was not enough seemingly for Chelsea to offer him a new contract beyond his current one which has just expired and now he will have to find his career away from the club he has been at for 7 years. As always with the young players are leaving lets just hope he finds a good club and his able to fulfill his potential somewhere.
