The future of Ramires has come under scrutiny in recent weeks with talk of SERIOUS interest from Carlo Ancelotti to take him to Real Madrid. Jose Mourinho has played down those reports and insists the Brazilian is going nowhere.
There had even been talk of a possible swap deal with Ramires heading to Madrid and Luka Modric coming to London but again, Mourinho has put an end to any talk like that after comments made to Spanish Newspaper Marca have been featured.
Let's also not forget that Mourinho had also been linked with a move for Rafael Varane, the young French defender who was given his chance in Madrid by our manager when he was there.
So, to all this talk of Ramires, swap deals and any other potential signings from Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho responded by saying:
'Ramires is staying at Chelsea. He's not for sale.
I have an excellent friendship with important people within Real Madrid and they know that Ramires is going to stay at Chelsea.
Cesc is a great player who adds a new dimension to our side. He is different to Matic, Ramires and Oscar. We will have a very complete midfield with him.
They know that Ramires is not leaving, but they also know that I'm not interested in any Real Madrid players.'
It's great news that Ramires is going to stay at Chelsea for at least this season coming and I am more than interested to see how Mourinho decides to implement Cesc Fabregas into the formation.
I know that Ramires divides opinion amongst Chelsea supporters all over the world.
On the plus side you have his endless energy, you have his willingness to work hard and his ability to score goals from midfield.
The downside would be his lack of discipline at times as we saw at Aston Villa and his touch which still lets him down.
The important thing to remember is that Ramires will continue to improve as time moves forward and my opinion is that we would miss his work rate and energy if he wasn't there playing.
The fact that Mourinho has said there is no chance of him leaving is great news and should hopefully, put all this talk of a move to Madrid to bed once and for all.
