As the Cesc Fabregas transfer to Chelsea is something that looks like being completed, I am beginning to wonder if Jose Mourinho really wants him at Chelsea and if it's hierarchy here that actually wants to sign him.
There have been plenty of reports of Cesc Fabregas leaving Barcelona for Chelsea and in recent days that has intensified. The whole situation has gained further momentum after Gerard Pique, speaking to Vicente Del Bosque ahead of a World Cup press conference revealed that a "Deal is done, 33m Euros".
I personally believe, as I have said on here on numerous occasions, believe that Fabregas would be a great signing because what he offers to a team with his knowledge of our game and experience.
However, if some reports are to be believed, Jose Mourinho is not 100% convinced and would prefer other alternatives such as Paul Pogba and Koke' of Atletico Madrid.
It's easy to understand why the press would speculate about the possibility of Fabregas playing under Mourinho after a war of words between the two over the years. Just last season we could see how much the manager had wound up everyone at Barcelona. He stated that he believed they were not the same team as they had been under Guardiola and was right to do so in my opinion.
After Barcelona travelled to Manchester City and beat them at Eastlands in the first leg, Fabregas was interviewed and stated that people outside of the Nou Camp should "Shut up" which was a blatant reference to Mourinho.
What we do know is that Mourinho is one of the best man managers in the game so I wouldn't pay too much attention to friction between the two if he does sign for us as expected. I am sure within minutes of meeting each other, everything would be smoothed over and they would get on like a house on fire!
Fernando Torres has given his thought's on a potential move for Fabregas to Chelsea and has said:
“Big players are always good signings. We know Cesc, he knows the division and was always among the top players when he was at Arsenal.
He likes to play good football and will offer ball control, cutting edge, goals… If he’s made to feel important, like a leader – like when he was at Arsenal – he can drive the team on and he’s a type of player Chelsea don’t have right now.”
As for the link to Paul Pogba and Koke'? Well it's not the first time we have been linked with Pogba and my initial reaction is that he is a different player to Fabregas. Having just won Serie A and looking to make a real challenge in the Champions League, you would feel that the Italian side would want to hold onto their best players.
As for Koke', well it seems that the new Barcelona Coach Luis Enrique has identified Koke' as the player he wants to replace Fabregas with and I am sure given the option the player would jump at the chance to move to the Nou Camp rather than anywhere else. That's if Madrid agree to sell him of course.
My gut feeling is that Fabregas is done and WILL sign for Chelsea and it's literally a matter of days until it;s announced by the club. Only then will we have an understanding of the transfer and if Jose Mourinho had identified the ex-Arsenal Captain as one of his targets given to the Board of if the Spaniard is in fact a club signing.
